About

Nadia Mason

Nadia Mason started studying art when she was nine years old and dreamed of illustrating children’s books. In the beginning she took a small class one day per week with Margaret Kunkel, focusing mainly on graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils. Margaret saw her potential right away and encouraged her to continue.

A few years later, in addition to continuing her studies with Margaret, Nadia began attending classes at the Texas Academy of Faith and Arts in order to broaden her skills. She briefly experimented with photography but then quickly moved into studies of color theory and painting, concentrating on acrylic paints on canvas. Of late she has also begun working with oils on canvas.

Nadia has done a wide variety of commissions, starting from her early teens…from custom sketches of pets to designing company logos, and painting custom shoes for individuals and businesses. She has sold many of her paintings and was recently selected as one of the finalists in the Mayor Mattie Parker High School Art Competition 2025, judged by Dr. Eric Lee, director of the Kimbell Art Museum.

Nadia graduated from high school this year, and in the fall will begin her studies at the Texas Academy of Figurative Arts in Fort Worth, which uses an atelier-style, classical approach to fine art education, studying the realist style of drawing and painting.

One final, fun fact. Nadia also holds a 3rd Degree black belt in Taekwondo.
